Malallah’s Virtual History is an assemblage comprising a metal chandelier, suspended above a looping video track with sound. The viewer will notice that the film track portrays a glorious, multi-coloured chandelier in abstract form. Whilst the colours are brilliant, the exact form is undecipherable, due to the blurring and swaying of the chandelier. Above it hangs a real, yet weathered chandelier made from metal; a copy of the object in the video it mimics. Accompanying this is the muffled and muddled sound of voices, almost in a whispered tone. These add a further layer of confusion to the assemblage.
