Many layers of burned canvas and strings on canvas
200 x 450 cm
Beneath many layers of burnt canvas, ash and strings, there is a strict mathematic order. The surface is divided into individual squares of ten by ten centimetres (10x10cm). The composition of this work was built from many layers, each of which works individually as an autonomous system. At the same time, they collectively embody a single concept: to operate the space between figurative and abstraction. For example, the mathematical, top layer is defined by the black string dividing the surface. This overlaps the abstract layer, with its random lines and colours created by fire. Simultaneously, these burnt edges and colours manifest a great variety of forms, in which figures manifest in relation to the viewer’s imagination.
